Reviving Your Real Estate License and Interstate Credentialing in Indiana
Becoming a licensed real estate broker in Indiana doesn’t mean holding that title forever. Your license will expire unless you renew it.
You can’t legally work with clients in a real estate capacity if your license is expired.
You can complete a Real Estate Broker Renewal form to stay current.4 You can renew by mail by printing, filling out, and sending the above form to the Professional Licensing Agency, 402 West Washington Street, Room W072, Indianapolis, Indiana, 46204.
You can also log into the Indiana Licensing Enterprise website,5 select the Access Indiana Single Sign-On, and complete the form online.
The first section of the form, Licensee Information, includes your name, real estate license number, expiration date, street address (including city, state, and zip code), phone number, and email address.
In the second section, you must answer yes or no to the following questions:
- “Since you last renewed, has any professional license, certificate, registration, or permit you hold or have been disciplined, or are formal charges pending in any state or U.S territory?”
- Since you last renewed, have you been denied a license, certificate, registration, or permit in any state or U.S. territory?”
- “Since you last renewed, and except for minor violations of traffic laws resulting in fines or arrests or convictions that have been expunged by a court, have you been arrested, entered into a diversion agreement, been convicted of, pled guilty to, or pled nolo contendere to any offense, misdemeanor, or felony in any state or U.S. territory?”
You’re also asked if you’ve finished the continuing education credits and whether you want to renew your license or make it inactive.
If you answer yes to the above questions, you can still renew your license, just as you could initially apply for it. You must provide documentation with your form explaining the circumstances, the court case, and the resolution.
The last part of the form is the licensee affirmation, where you swear on the accuracy of the information provided. Next, date and sign the form.
You must pay a $60 fee to renew your Indiana real estate license. If you decide to mail the form to the Professional Licensing Agency, and the postmark date is after your license expires, you must pay a late fee of $50.
